Finely tuned
Seneca Valley musicians recently fine-tuned their skills as they prepared for a special performance with instrumentalists from other local schools. Eleven Seneca Valley orchestra students participated in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 2, 3 and 5 Orchestra held Feb. 7-9, at Hickory High School.
Based on auditions at this event, seven Seneca Valley students were selected to advance to the Western Region Orchestra to be held at Butler High School in March. Those advancing include sophomores Elizabeth Browne and Morgan Roithner; juniors Isaac Hixon, Isabella Muthler, Jake Pieszak and Ava Platt; and senior Tristan Conrad.
Students worked under the esteemed conductor Jungho Kim from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, culminating in a beautiful performance the evening of February 9.
All participating musicians included Elizabeth Browne – violin, Tristan Conrad – cello, Issac Hixon – French horn, Isabella Muthler – viola, Dylan Neal – violin, Jake Pieszak – violin, Ava Platt – viola, Grace Riggle – violin, Morgan Roithner – viola, Madelyn Tresky – violin and Charlotte Davis – violin.
Students are led by Ms. Sarah Miller, secondary orchestra instructor.
