FFA hosts petting zoo

The MAHS FFA recently hosted a farm petting zoo for elementary students.

The Meyersdale Chapter of FFA held their annual petting zoo activity for elementary students on May 27. Our younger Red Raiders enjoyed meeting and learning about a host of farm animals, including a steer, a calf, lambs, pigs, rabbits, a chicken and goats.

Members of the Meyersdale FFA have organized and hosted this special event for several years, with the guidance of their advisor Doreen Jamison.

“The FFA members enjoy organizing the petting zoo for the elementary students and it is important for them to connect with the younger generation and teach them about animal agriculture since the elementary students may not normally get a chance to get in contact with it outside of the school,” Jamison explained.
