Fairview Elementary celebrates School Heritage Day
Fairview Elementary School hosted its annual Third-Grade Heritage Day Friday, May 20, 2022. Fairview third-graders had spent the last several weeks on a heritage project that involved interviewing a family member of their choice about their heritage and then researching the country they came from, writing a report, and creating a Google Slideshow presentation. The students presented the slideshows to their invited guests and classmates during the presentations on May 20. Additionally, on May 31, students and their families brought in food items that represent their cultures for the students to share and sample.
The goal of the heritage research project is to celebrate the diverse community in the Fox Chapel area and for Fairview students to learn about the many countries and cultures throughout the world. The countries researched by the students this year include Afghanistan, Austria, Canada, China, Croatia, England, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Slovakia, South Korea, Syria, the United States, Vietnam and Wales.
