On April 9, 2024, 17 students from S. S. Palmer Elementary School and 24 students from Towamensing Elementary School (both in the Palmerton Area School District) joined forces to sing the Star-Spangled Banner at the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs game. The Iron Pigs are the Triple A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The students sang beautifully and with great professionalism. They made the Palmerton Area School District’s elementary music program and the local community proud.

“This event would not have been possible without the support of several people. First, a big thank you to the Palmerton Area Music Parents Association, particularly Mrs. Jennifer Mertz, who helped to coordinate the night’s festivities. Also, a special thank you to Mrs. George, Towamensing’s principal, who recorded the event for the school’s news broadcast and took photos for the yearbook,” said Natalie Madeira, Towamensing music teacher and chorus advisor.

“We were excited to have this wonderful opportunity. We look forward to doing this again next year,” said Isabelle Beedle, S. S. Palmer’s vocal music teacher and chorus advisor.
