Culinary students honor first responders with dinner
In an article on WNEP.com, culinary student Ashyia Blakey said giving back to the first responders was a meaningful experience. “They do so much for the community…. it just means a lot to me that I can use my opportunity that I have here to give to them.”
Lackawanna CTC’s culinary arts program offers students hands-on courses that integrate safety, leadership, employability skills, mathematics, and science instruction. Instruction and on-the-job training is conducted in the fully equipped cafeteria and restaurant at the school. Students learn how to order, receive, store, prepare, manage and serve food and beverage along with measuring, mixing, and proportioning using various utensils, tools, and equipment. Upon completion of the culinary arts program, students have the qualifications to start a career in a culinary establishment or attend two- or four-year postsecondary culinary programs.
The dinner is one of several service-oriented events the CTC holds throughout the year.
