Busy Hand Bags build fine motor skills at home

The ESL team at McAnnulty Elementary School has created Busy Hand Bags to help students strengthen their fine motor skills through fun, hands-on activities they can enjoy at home. Each bag includes a variety of engaging materials and tasks designed to support the small muscle movements that are essential for writing, cutting and classroom success.

Inside the bags, students will find activities such as stringing beads, tearing paper and making collage art, and using play dough to form letters, numbers and shapes. They can also use tweezers to move and sort small objects and search for hidden items in play dough which are all activities that build coordination, focus and creativity.

Each bag includes visual supports and simple directions so families can easily follow along and help their children complete the tasks. The goal is to make skill-building fun, meaningful and accessible at home.

The Busy Hand Bags are a great way to connect learning between home and school, helping our ESL students grow stronger, more confident and ready for success with one small movement at a time!
