Air Force JROTC cadet earns pilot license

We are proud to recognize Demarius Lane, New Castle Area School District AFJROTC cadet, for successfully completing the prestigious Air Force Flight Academy program in Indiana. Through his hard work, dedication, and perseverance, Demarius earned his Private Pilot License, a major milestone and a remarkable first step toward a future career in aviation.

Cadet Demarius Lane, an Air Force Junior ROTC cadet at New Castle Senior High School received a scholarship to attend Indiana Wesleyan University to participate in a private pilot license training program in the summer of 2025.

Demarius, a junior, was one of 194 Air Force Junior ROTC cadets around the world to receive the scholarship from Headquarters Air Force Junior ROTC, Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, AL. 1,203 cadets applied for one of the 226 scholarships. There were more than 85,000 high school students enrolled in Air Force Junior ROTC at more than 830 high schools in the U.S and overseas. The scholarship covered transportation, room and board, academics and flight hours required to potentially earn a private pilot license. The scholarship is valued at approximately $27,000.
