Scheduling and Preparation Overview
The GPS Learning Lab is a mobile, high-tech environment designed to bring immersive learning directly to your district. It features interactive content tailored to both students and staff, offering real-world experiences that build skills, spark curiosity and foster collaboration.
Student-Focused Content Sets
The Lab includes engaging content for students across grade levels:
- U.S. Geography Exploration (Grades 3–5)
Students explore the diversity of the United States by researching a selected state’s region, capital, bird, flag and landmarks. Activities promote foundational geography skills, creative expression and curiosity-driven learning. - High-Demand Career Exploration (Grades 8–12)
Through mini-interviews with professionals and students from Pennsylvania College of Technology, students learn about emerging careers such as surgical technology, polymers, homeland security and more. This module helps students connect personal interests to future career pathways. - Military Career Pathways (Grades 8–12)
Students hear directly from U.S. Army and Air Force personnel about roles like helicopter pilot, cyber soldier and combat medic. The interactive format encourages informed decision-making and career awareness. - Safe2Say Something Training (Grades 6–12)
Developed in partnership with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, this content set teaches students how to responsibly report concerns such as bullying, threats, or self-harm using the anonymous Safe2Say system.
Staff & Governance Team Content Sets
Designed to strengthen school leadership and safety practices:
- School-Based Scenarios
Staff engage in realistic simulations involving student safety, de-escalation and situational awareness. - Cybersecurity Breach Simulation
A tabletop exercise for governance teams and administrators to navigate a cyber security data breach.
How to Schedule the GPS Learning Lab
Step 1: Submit an Interest Form
- Indicate your preferred week(s) for hosting the Lab.
- The Lab is typically delivered on Monday and picked up on Friday.
Step 2: Tentative Scheduling
- GPS staff will review your form and reach out to tentatively schedule your selected week.
Step 3: Confirm Your Reservation
- To finalize your reservation, districts must submit the following at least 10 days prior to the scheduled delivery:
- A signed Service Agreement
- Payment for the scheduled services
Pre-Arrival Support
Once your week is confirmed, GPS staff will provide:
- An Operations Manual for equipment setup and use
- A Content Menu outlining:
- Available content sets by audience
- Facilitator guides
- Student worksheets and activities
This support ensures your team is fully prepared for a smooth and impactful GPS Learning Lab experience.
