Volley 4 a Cure

Staff and faculty from three area schools come together each year to raise money for breast cancer research for the annual Volley 4 A Cure tournament.
Volley 4 A Cure was held at the Meyersdale Area High School gymnasium. Admission was free but attendees were asked to make a donation. In addition to the single elimination competition, the evening featured basket raffles, a bake sale, spectator games and prizes, a 50/50 drawing, and concessions.
All proceeds from the evening’s activities will benefit the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center to support breast cancer research and treatment. The Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center specializes in proactive breast cancer care, risk-reduction strategies, and early detection and treatment for our community. As a leading breast cancer care center, it provides comprehensive services, including screening mammograms, clinical breast exams and personalized risk assessments.
Event organizer Ginger Geiger said this event is just one example of how our community rallies to support finding a cure for a disease that affects nearly 1 in every 8 women. She said she continues to be inspired by the incredible support shown at this event and student tournaments held last month.
