Students and staff of Erie’s Public Schools gathered for “Royal Impact: B.E.T. Day of Service,” an event that helped more than 150 people experiencing housing instability. Visitors received free toiletry bags full of donated hygiene items, along with a hot meal and grooming services.

Roughly 90% of families served by Erie’s Public Schools are economically disadvantaged and face great challenges daily, including food and housing insecurity. Despite those challenges, our spirit of community service is STRONG in Erie’s Public Schools. Ours is a community that has supported our district for so long and in so many ways, it was time to give back!

On September 13, 2025, 50 students representing our three high schools led our inaugural “Royal Impact: B.E.T. Day of Service,” an event aimed at helping those experiencing housing insecurity. Students and staff came together to hand out toiletry bags filled with donated hygiene items and serve hot meals. Thanks to donated services, individuals experiencing housing insecurity were also able to visit “grooming stations” to receive free haircuts.

One person left a note at our “gratitude station” with the following words, summing up the feelings of many: “Today I am grateful for all the kind people who came out today to show us some love. It feels good to know people care.”
