Eastern Lancaster County School District (ELCO) is helping students boost literacy skills through the district’s Bookmobile program. According to an article in Lebtown, the mobile library distributes books to different areas around the district community during the months when school is out. The goal is to make reading easier for local families.

The Bookmobile receives grants to purchase new books each year and accepts donations from the community to increase its reading material. Sara Faust, a reading specialist at Fort Zeller Elementary School is the program’s coordinator.

ELCO also encourages summer reading through its calendar of literacy activities for students and the library’s reading program. It’s all part of the district’s plan to keep students engaged in learning all year long.
