SV Jazz Ensembles receive top ratings

Wrapping up their school year, members of the Seneca Valley (SV) Jazz Ensembles I and II performed at the Slippery Rock University Jazz Festival and Adjudication. Each ensemble performed for two adjudicators and received written comments, a rating and personalized clinics following the performances. 

The SV Jazz Ensembles I and II received the highest rating, Superior, from all adjudicators. Headlining this year’s festival was guest artist and composer Ayn Inserto. Ms. Inserto is the Assistant Chair and teaches jazz composition at Berklee College of Music. After the adjudication, students attended instrument-specific masterclasses then came together for a clinic with the guest artist. The entire event concluded with a concert featuring the music of Ayn Inserto as performed by the Slippery Rock University Jazz Ensemble.

Students are led by Varden Armstrong and Bob Babick, secondary instrumental teachers.
