Pizza challenge in Culinary Arts Baking Class

Students design pizza for their final project
At Central High School in the Spring Cove School District, Mrs. Barnes’ Culinary Arts Baking Classes completed a final project for their Quick Bread and Yeast Bread Unit. Student groups had to collaborate and design a pizza of their choice. Students created both sweet and savory pizzas for this challenge. During the unit, students learned about different leavening agents and when/how to use them, different types of flour, conditions needed to successfully bake yeast leavened baked goods, and the differences between the conventional and quick rise methods of yeast bread making.
