WASHS students lend a hand
WASHS learners recently helped with kindergarten registration, held at WASHS March 31 – April 4. Over 250 families were able to enroll their children in kindergarten, and more than 50 high school students volunteered to help!
Students volunteered to help for a variety of reasons. “I have a younger sister and a lot of younger cousins that I watch, so I love working with kids. I know sometimes it can be scary to go to a school for the first time, so I want to help them understand school is fun and they can meet new friends,” said Sarah A., class of 2028.
“Assisting families through the process can help ease any confusion or barriers they may face, making it a smooth and positive experience. By supporting registration efforts, I can contribute to helping children and their families start this important journey with confidence,” said Paige C., class of 2027.
“I feel that I would be very helpful, since I can speak Spanish and English. It’d help some parents fully understand the process. And I am good at interacting with children, which can help make the whole process easier,” said Naomi A., class of 2028.
