Changing PA’s state fossil

Help us Make a Change – State Fossil
Our story starts with America’s 250th birthday coming up in July 2026 and we want to make it EPIC! We were contacted by Elizabeth Whitty, a member of the Clinton County Planning Department, she asked us to take on the challenge of changing our state fossil. Our first steps included a ton of planning, spreading the word and gathering information from as many people as we could.
We met up with the paleontologist Dr. Edward Daeshler, who informed us of the importance of the discovery, the type of environment it lived in, the process of digging up fossils and some other cool facts about the hynerpeton. Following along with that, we presented to our county commissioners, while asking for their support in helping us move along in this long journey. While quickly gaining support from our community, we started spreading the word to our younger generations.
We presented to Renovo and Rob Elementary, grabbing the attention of our younger generation to educate them about the history of Pennsylvania. We are currently preparing to present to local legislatures to enact legislation to change our state fossil. We hope to have this accomplished for America’s 250th birthday.
