Kennedy Heart Hero

Kennedy Rader, a third grader at Ehrman Crest Elementary, is turning her personal experience with a congenital heart condition into an opportunity to educate and inspire others.

Diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve at just two years old, Kennedy hasn’t let her condition hold her back. Instead, she’s become a passionate advocate for the Kids Heart Challenge, raising funds for the American Heart Association (AHA) and supporting children with “special hearts.”

Last month, Ehrman Crest Elementary launched its Kids Heart Challenge with special activities and presentations. As the school’s Heart Hero, Kennedy led three presentations, sharing her story and teaching peers about heart health. Thanks to the enthusiasm of students and staff, Ehrman Crest broke a school record, raising over $23,000 for the AHA. These funds will go toward helping fund research and resources for children with heart conditions.

The Kids Heart Challenge, a nationwide initiative by the AHA, promotes heart-healthy habits while empowering students to make a difference. Through education and fundraising, participants support life-saving efforts and learn the importance of cardiovascular health.

Kennedy’s courage and efforts are a powerful reminder that even the youngest advocates can make a lasting impact.
