Junior High students achieve success

Scholastic Quiz Team

The Hollidaysburg Junior High Scholastic Quiz Team placed 1st for the eighth consecutive year at the Blair/Bedford Varsity Scholastic Quiz Team Competition. They defeated Tyrone School District 2-0 in a best-out-of-three semifinal and then Bellwood 3-0 in a best-out-of-five final round. They will move on to Nationals in May. The team’s coaches are Nicole Stouffer and Alison Arbuckle.

The Junior High also saw great success at the Blair Regional MathCounts Competition. The team finished first in the team competition so all four students advance to states. Six individual students also placed in the top 10 in individual competitions earning with one of those students also advancing onto the state competition. The coach is Robert Valeria.
