Dr. Megan Collett, Fox Chapel Area School District’s executive director of instructional and innovative leadership, has been named the 2025 Technology Administrator of the Year by the Pennsylvania Education Technology Expo and Conference (PETE&C).

The award is presented to an administrator who encourages or facilitates innovation and/or leadership in the use of technology in schools. The winner also must have noteworthy technology innovation and/or leadership achievements, along with encouraging and facilitating the use of technology in schools.

According to her nominator, Fox Chapel Area School District employee Melissa Wiest, Dr. Collett “has, and continues to, initiate advancements in our computer science and technology departments. From securing funding, piloting new programs, upgrading equipment and resources to teaching and attending professional development herself, she continues to amaze and inspire with her dedication to and diligence in her role.”

Dr. Collett is actively involved in the state’s Remake Learning Days and the discoverED program. Last year, approximately 10,000 students from across Pennsylvania participated. She also writes and is awarded grants that, among other things, have allowed the district’s computer science teachers to design a newer, more modern classroom. Her involvement in professional development has enabled the district to obtain the newest technology and for those innovative items to be brought to district classrooms. Additionally, Dr. Collett often leads professional development opportunities so that those in other districts who do not have access to the same resources can implement various technologies to benefit their students.

She also oversees the administration of the STEM A.C.E.S. initiative, led by the Fox Chapel Area School District. The first-of-its-kind program supports quality educational opportunities and experiences for students in science, technology, engineering and math disciplines across western Pennsylvania, backed by a $500,000 PAsmart Advancing Grant through the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Fox Chapel Area is partnering with seven other school districts in an effort to increase access to digital fabrication learning experiences and increase STEM activation, especially among traditionally underrepresented students.

“Dr. Collett is an amazing asset to the Fox Chapel Area School District and to all of the districts that have had the opportunity to work with her. She not only worries about doing what is best for the children at Fox Chapel Area but also doing what she can to help those in our area who don’t have access to the same resources. She believes that all learners should have the same opportunities,” Mrs. Wiest said in the nomination.

The award was presented to Dr. Collett as part of the PETE&C that was held February 9-12 at the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center. The PETE&C is the premier educational technology conference in Pennsylvania. The conference provides an exceptional education experience for teachers, instructional specialists, media and library specialists, tech directors, and others. The PETE&C exists to bring together the member organizations to design and provide innovative, collaborative, future-focused experiences and opportunities that inspire educational stakeholders to reimagine and advance education.
