Belle Valley students “adopt” a grandparent
Belle Valley Elementary students adopted a grandparent for a night as they visited a local nursing home to spread holiday cheer. Students took time over the past few weeks to decorate bags and collect donations to fill the bags. At the nursing home, the students caroled for a group in the home’s chapel, then delivered the bags of gifts they had collected to residents. As they delivered the bag, they stopped to talk with residents and learn more about them. Students learned where they were originally from, their favorite colors and animals, and favorite holiday treats.
Residents were excited to share their stories with the students and enjoyed the visit. Once it was time for the group of residents to leave for dinner, students said their good byes and then caroled through the halls to visit the other residents in the home.
