The Baldwin High School ASL Club has received a $13,700 grant from Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN) to underwrite programming to encourage young people to pursue careers in special education. Through a series of community workshops, guest speakers, career counseling and mentorship programs, the ASL club will provide students insight into the many fulfilling careers in special education, including ASL interpretation and teaching students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing.

“By incorporating these strategies into the ASL Club, students can gain valuable knowledge and insight into career options in special education and feel empowered to pursue their interests in this rewarding field,” says Marissa Gallagher, director of student services for the Baldwin-Whitehall School District.
