Students selected for PMEA District 1 orchestra
Two Dorseyville Middle School students have been selected by committee to perform with the 2024 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 1 Junior High Orchestra. The students are eighth-graders Finn Johnson (string bass) and Matthew Wang (violin). The orchestra will include more than 120 of the most talented seventh-, eighth-, and ninth-grade orchestra students from throughout Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties.
The PMEA District 1 Junior High Orchestra Festival will be held April 26 and 27 at Keystone Oaks High School, and will culminate with a concert April 27. The concert will be directed by Dr. Stephen Benham, the chair of the performance department and professor of music education at the Duquesne University Mary Pappert School of Music.
