Feed-A-Friend Helps 100+ Families for Holidays
Hatboro-Horsham High School’s annual Feed-A-Friend provided enough food for more than 100 families this holiday season with at least one student enrolled in the district.
Organized by Student Council members with donations coming from the Hatboro-Horsham community, Feed-A-Friend gift baskets were delivered to families on December 23. Students were involved in all aspects of the project including planning, bag drop-off, collection, sorting and delivery.
“Without the spectacular students that make up this club, Feed-a-Friend could not happen,” said Joseph Grady, Student Council advisor. “I am so proud of these students for the wonderful people they are and the good they’re doing for their community. They make the world a better place and I could not be more thankful for the dedication and hard work they put in to make this a success.”
With a goal to provide for families that struggle with food security, the high school began accepting donations for the gift baskets in the fall. Students dedicated two Sundays in December to sort and assemble the gift baskets, which included a turkey and/or ham, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats and tuna, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, oatmeal, tomato sauce, pasta, beans, soup, rice and a variety of other non-perishable food items.
“This food drive is not possible without the generous donations provided by the Hatboro-Horsham community,” said Grady. “Every year they go above and beyond to provide for their neighbors and there are no words to express how grateful I am for their generosity.”
