Collaborative Collection

North Star School District Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) teacher, Jennifer Blucas, along with her FCS III class and the North Star Pep Club, worked to collect items for the Somerset Humane Society. Blucas’ FCS III class made dog bandanas for the shelter, while her Pep Club collected item’s on the shelter’s wish list. They were able to buy additional items through the generosity of the North Star staff who donated money through a dress down week organized by Blucas.

“I’m extremely lucky to teach within this discipline,” said Blucas. “It’s very unfortunate that many schools no longer have FCS. I wanted to showcase my students talents and give back to the community. “
