The FRobotics team in their new workshop

The Franklin Regional FRObotics team is moving into a new space, courtesy of the FR Panther Foundation, the district’s education foundation, which provided a $10,000 grant to boost the program. Their spacious new workshop is the former cafeteria at Newlonsburg Elementary School, according to an article in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

The team began competing as part of the FIRSTĀ© Robotics Competition in 2012, and has been growing ever since. It competes in several events, designing, building, programming and controlling robots to compete against other student teams. The program also has an outreach and marketing focus — team members solicit donations and sponsorships as well as provide robotics demonstrations for younger students in the area.

While having fun, participants are gaining hands-on experience solving real-world engineering challenges, building teamwork skills and cultivating the next generation of STEM learners.
