Poetry contest grows skill, creativity
Inspiration, creativity and writing skills abounded at the Sixth Annual West Chester Area School District E-Poetry Contest. Sponsored by the Chester County Art Association and Young Rembrandts of Chester County, the recent contest encouraged individuals to submit original poems in any content area or personal topic of interest, according to an article in on MyChesCo.com. This year more than 150 were submitted from students in grades 6-12. A local Barnes and Noble Bookstore hosted an award ceremony for student and staff poets, and 18 winners were awarded.
“This contest and culminating ceremony not only offer our students an amazing opportunity to showcase their passion and talent, but also to challenge themselves to confidently share their art with an audience,” said Dr. Kalia Reynolds, assistant superintendent, in the article. “The award-winning poems were moving and inspirational. It was clear that the contest was a success in promoting creativity and confidence in students and staff alike.”
