‘Step Up’ program keeps students on track through summer
Wilkes-Barre Area School District’s Step Up With The Pack Summer Program is designed to keep the learning going for students in July and August. About 500 students and 50 teachers will gather at the school for academic instruction, social skills and physical activity in a fun and relaxing environment, according to an article on PAHomePage.com.
“It’s a project-based learning where students come together to look at a real-world problem or issue and try to collaborate to come up with some solution to it. It could be in the design, building something, doing a little store, doing restaurants and all the things that come with that and working together to do that,” Step Up With The Pack Summer Program Site Manager Sandra Marinko said in the article.
The program, which also includes breakfast and lunch, is offered free to all students in the district in grades K-8 through grant funding.
