Wounded Warrior Project at Meyersdale
The Meyersdale Area School District is launching an initiative to honor and support injured service members in conjunction with the Wounded Warrior Project.
The Middle School will be hosting several events and outreach efforts to meet the district’s $1,000 goal. The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) aims to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members. The emphasis of WWP is to raise awareness and support for injured service members while emphasizing the organization’s core values of loyalty, duty, respect, honor and integrity.
To help students understand the importance of this cause and the work of WWP, Mrs. Kristi Sines and Mr. Mike Swick will be sharing informational videos about WWP, including testimonials from individuals who have benefited from it and those who have supported their work.
Organizers are excited to support this worthy cause and proud of the support our students demonstrate for our veterans and service members.
“Our students are always so supportive of our service members, especially as we have several military families in the district,” added event organizer Mrs. Tammy Hetrick.
The first round of fundraising is bracelets featuring the core military values. These bracelets are available to students with a minimum donation of $1. However, students have been generous with their donations and we have already reached the first tier of our goal.
On Memorial Day, district representatives will have a table set up during the Memorial Day parade to accept donations. The first 200 donations will receive a WWP pin or sticker in appreciation of their generosity. Donations will be accepted right before and immediately after the parade.
Students, staff and faculty would like to thank the community for considering donating to this worthy cause and giving back to individuals who have given so much for our country.
