Chapter celebrates National FFA Week

Students at the Meyersdale Area School District observed National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Week, February 21-25, with a series of special activities and programs. Chapter members sponsored a Spirit Week for students, provided breakfast for staff and faculty, and held other activities designed to highlight the important work of this organization and its support of agriculture. A trivia contest was held in both the middle and high Schools, allowing students to win prizes based on their knowledge of FFA traditions and history. Questions were announced in the morning after the announcements.

“National FFA week is an important week because this helps FFA enroll more future members. We can also take this time to give back to their communities or schools. FFA can also help educate kids and teachers about the club and what we do,” explained eighth-grade member Estella Friend. “During the week, we reminded people about how agriculture is so important to our world.”

Meyersdale Area High School FFA Chapter President Alexia Laws said the week-long observance was exciting for members and students alike. “National FFA week is important because it’s a week of promoting and recognizing what FFA is and how far it has come,” she explained. “It is a time for us to promote agriculture and share with others the experience FFA can bring.”
