Community partnership helps fund classroom needs
Through the Weis 4 Schools program, Marion-Walker Elementary School received a $2,326.10 donation. A check was presented to the school on September 21 by store manager Dave Barnard and his fifth-grade daughter Camryn who also attends the school.
Principal Karen Krisch said she’s now working with teachers to see how that money can be used for teacher “wish lists.”
“Sometimes there are things we need, but just don’t have the money for,” she said.
The program allows families from participating schools to sign up for the program. Each time they shop at Weis, proceeds from their purchases can be put toward the school when their club card is scanned. Bellefonte and Pleasant Gap elementary schools and Bellefonte Area Middle School were also district participants in the program, which will kick off again this fall.
