STEM project pairs younger and older students
Oswayo Valley’s STEM mentorship program pairs secondary students with elementary students to work on science, technology, engineering and math projects. What better instructor is there than the “big kid” you look up to! Mrs. Cook’s fifth grade STEM classes built drones, worked with block-based coding, and ultimately discovered the science behind the world of flight, thanks to the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network’s (PATTAN) #CSinPA Build|Fly|Code program. Build|Fly|Code trains educators to participate in a computer science (CS) learning experience using drone technology. 1:1 learning kits are provided to the teachers so that students can get hands-on experience with building and manipulating the drones.
