On Thursday, March 25, the Thomas Jefferson High School (TJHS) track and field Team partnered with the TJHS Best Buddies program to host a very special intra-squad meet at TJ Stadium. Students from the middle school and high school Life Skills programs were invited to participate in the inaugural Black and Gold Invitational, where they competed in three events before taking their places on the risers and receiving medals. The TJHS Best Buddies program provides students who have any type of disability with a peer mentor from the school. The school’s chapter is linked to the international nonprofit Best Buddies, dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
