Random Acts of Science

Mr. Andrew Rafferty and Mr. David Arrow have brought back Random Acts of Science during Lunch and Learn. The high school science teachers began doing this last year and West York Area School District students love it!
Chemistry students have just finished a lab about gases and air pressure in chemistry classes. One of the experiments that students performed in this lab was to boil a little water in a soda can and flip it immediately upside down into cool water; at which point the can implodes instantly. For this Random Act of Science, Mr. Rafferty and Mr. Arrow upscaled the experiment by using a 55-gallon drum instead of a soda can.
Mr. Arrow said that he and Mr. Rafferty like that all students, whether they are currently taking Chemistry or not, can enjoy watching an Act of Science during Lunch and Learn.
